Dealraker - I'm in a similar boat (from the big DC [Davidson County] between Lex & T'ville). I am really interested in getting something started down our way. The county does have a plan that includes multiuse trails but I have seen little movement on this front. Honestly, if I could ever get caught up with the right people in the county park/land management, I think we could build some good trails at Finch Park or around Lake ThomaLex.

In the meantime, if I don't have the time to drive to GSO or LNSP, I've found Salisbury Community Park to be a good option. At about 25-30 minutes, it's about the same drive time as Tanglewood and about half the time to the Greensboro watershed trails, Uwharrie, or Lake Norman. The trail is maintained pretty well and has some fun, fast sections as well as some tight, twisty options. Overall it's not very technical which suits my taste. I'll probably roll there sometime over the next couple days.

Thanks for plowing the path! It was a much smoother ride back to the marina because of your work. Also good to see you out yesterday.

Happy rolling this weekend,

Well that spurred me to (finally) move on getting a Road Id. The 'bad' thing is that I ordered 2 additional tags/bracelets for a couple family members with medical issues.

Please make sure that Road Id gives Bike Triad a fair commission.

Seriously - thanks for posting this - I've been waiting for a good deal and this worked out great.

I agree with the comments above. The one thing I will add is that I like Monbo better in the clockwise direction (in my opinion it flows better - possibly a little more downhill? - something). In odd number years, like this one, the flow is counter-clockwise and the trail direction switches every January 1. I personally like the Laurel Loop better counter-clockwise (s-shaped gully runs are downhill this direction). I've ridden them in both directions and they're all fun in both directions - I just tend to ride some loops more than others depending on the direction for the given year.

One more note - right now they're doing work on the main parking lot but there's still a good amount of parking on the weekends.

I'm a big fan of Lake Norman State Park. There's 30 miles of trails - something for everyone.

Have fun...

Renewed back in February. I agree - every little bit counts. Whether it's the IMBA/SORBA/GFTS membership, work-days, volunteering for events, donating a little extra cash, or other involvement (or better yet - a little of all of the above) - it all adds up.

Had a great time today. The new Rogue Hoe works really well. Mark & Jimmy - thanks for placing the order (of course we're that much more dangerous now ). Good to see some familiar faces and meet a few new people.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about (and see) your crash.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't race and ride so darn slow.

Heal up soon....

Don't kill black snakes either. I've heard black snakes will eat copperheads.

Interesting. I had no idea snakes ate their own species. I thought they only ate other animals.

Yes. King snakes are also good for controlling the population of venomous snakes.

The take home message for Misfit riders.....

Verify that you are not going to ride a Leper or a Ghost trail before starting the ride.

Bad enough to have bike parts falling off during a ride. Hate to see rider parts fall off after a "Leper trail" ride

Just practice your bunny hopping (over lost appendages).
